Caroline contacted me recently as she needed some professional headshots taken for an article in a trade magazine. She’s the director of corporate sales at Thrifty Car & Van Rental, and the images were to accompany a profile piece about her.
In our chats via email, she’d emphasised that while the images had to look professional and business-like they also needed to have a touch of glamour. With that in mind, I’d advised her to bring along a selection of outfits and suggested that she include something bright and colourful rather than the standard corporate uniform of lots of black and navy – a business headshot doesn’t have to be dull or sober. I also asked her to add some accessories and this worked out really well as she had some favourite scarves that she liked to wear with her jackets; it’s amazing how something as simple as a scarf can add the finishing touch to an outfit.
For women, makeup is also an important aspect and should not be forgotten, as it really helps to create a polished and well groomed look.
I loved the outfits and colours that Caroline brought along, and I think she looks incredibly professional and yet elegant and feminine in her photos.
If you’re thinking of having your business portrait taken, then why not get in touch? I use natural light for all my headshots, which people tend to find far less intimidating than studio lights, and most of my portraits are taken outdoors on location in and around Guildford.
