Last Saturday I held another of my photography workshops for beginners, at the beautiful Horsley Park, near Guildford.
I’d been looking for a venue for the summer months where I could take people out for some practice after teaching them the fundamentals of how to use their cameras properly, and this fitted the bill perfectly.
The weather couldn’t have been better and the bright sunshine and shade was ideal for demonstrating how to shoot under different lighting conditions. After going through the various settings on their cameras, and fortified by coffee and pastries, we went out into the grounds for a practice.
It was great to see everyone getting their cameras off the Auto setting and experimenting with blurring the background and the different ways of capturing movement. In the words of Simon, one of the delegates, “Within 3 hours, I have moved from automatic, through semi-automatic and am now able to take pictures in manual. What more can be said!”
