Women’s Portraiture Session, Guildford, Surrey
Far be it from me to encourage a client to take a sneaky day off work to spend the morning having her hair and makeup done and being photographed; however, this is exactly what Sydney did not long after returning from her holidays! She was the second winner in my International Women’s Day competition and took the morning off from tending sick animals to have her session with me and hair and makeup artist, Sophia Wyatt.
The first thing you notice about Sydney is definitely her amazing eyes, followed by her beautiful hair. When we’d chatted over email, she’d sent me a list of the type of styles she favoured- a combination of casual outfits and glamorous makeup. And so we went to work, pulling together a variety of looks, using t-shirts, leather jackets and jewellery and finishing with a stunning combination of red lips, lashes and a black and white dress.
Sophia worked her usual magic, emphasising Sydney’s eyes and lips and then adding a loose wave to her hair. I definitely felt that I wanted to make the most of her hair and so for the last shots of the morning I had her lie down and fan it out around her to create a very dramatic look. Here are some of my favourites from the session (Sydney chose the last one as her prize!)
