Holidays – A Time to Think & to Switch off

A couple of weeks ago we had a glorious time down in beautiful Dartmouth. The weather was beautiful and the light at this time of year when you’re by the sea is stunning. As always, I completely unplug when I’m on holiday – no checking of emails or phone messages – nothing; it really does have a very calming effect! Being self-employed, it can be terribly tempting to think that you’re indispensable and that you need to be available 24/7, but that way madness lies, so I let my clients know when I’ll be away, set up automatic messages on my email and phone and then just forget about whether I could be missing a crucial call.

So back to our holiday – we walked miles on the Devon coastal path; visited Greenway, Agatha Christie’s holiday home, which was just wonderful; sat by the sea eating fish and chips and just watched the boats go by on the Dart estuary. Needless to say I took my camera, which got slightly damp when I was photographing the waves, but I just had to get close! Here are some of my favourite shots.
